We performed at this event and at many other African American cultural gatherings throughout the city.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"723\" data-end=\"907\"\u003eIt wasn’t until later in life that I fully realized how inclusive, welcoming, and vibrant these events truly were.
