Some people hear a calling and ignore it.

Others hear it, even when life is difficult, and choose to answer anyway.

This painting is about the quiet responsibility of using the gifts God has placed within us; not for applause, but to serve. The young trumpet player represents that first "yes" to purpose. Around him are faces carrying pain, wisdom, hardship, and hope. The empty flower pot in the foreground reminds us that there are still people waiting to be encouraged, helped, and seen.
