Once a New Yorker, the essence of the state tends to be reflected in our accents and mannerisms. It’s noticeable. Being away from the city, at times, I ride a lyft and am asked, "What part of New York are you from?" Me: I grew up in Brooklyn, spent time in Queens, and Lived in Harlem. People from New York understand the aura one carries as a protective "don't bother me" shield.
